Songs That She Sang in the Shower Jason Isbell

certainsongs:

This latest Jason Isbell record breaks my heart about a million times, then somehow manages to piece it back together again by the time it finishes spinning. Amazing collection of songs. “And experience robs me of hope that she’ll make it back home…so I’m stuck on my own”

“We wanted to show just how ridiculous it is that spring break behavior is considered normal and gay marriage is insane when it’s actually the opposite.” —The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer talks about the video for their song “Spring Break Anthem” in our latest feature interview. (via pitchfork)

Four Simple Words Frank Turner

xahhx:

Frank Turner - Four Simple Words (from the upcoming album Tape Deck Heart)

New stuff from FT. The song starts slow, but picks up nicely. I dig it.

“Every time that I’d be standing there on stage, at least at some point in the show, I had to just pinch myself to realize that I was really up there on the stage. Every one of these guys was my hero before I even knew them, you know? Because really, the first time I ever heard Waylon [Jennings], I was a janitor at the recording studio at Columbia Recording in Nashville. And I volunteered to do a Saturday [cleaning shift] when Waylon was doing a demo, and I’d never heard anything like him. It was a real eye-opener to find myself on the same stage with these guys. Because Johnny Cash, as human as he is — or was — he was always larger than life. He always felt like something right off of Mount Rushmore.” —Kris Kristofferson on being in the country supergroup The Highwaymen with Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash (via nprmusic)
